Every Minute Your Body is Making More Free Radicals- What Are You Going To Do About It?
Apr/100
If you’re over the age of 40 (or maybe 30) it’s a good time to take some time to learn a bit about the Free Radical Theory of Ageing. After all, by the time you reach your 60’s (or even your 50’s?)it would be nice to have your anti-aging strategies firmly entrenched.
If you’ve never heard of free radicals, I can assure you that they are not politically motivated, but are quite distructive never the less. Free radicals are unstable or damaged molecules that will steal an electron from another nearby molecule in order to restablize themselves. In so doing they create another unstable molecule and the cycle repeats - creating a chain response?that damages the systems in your body right at the cellular level.
You only need to look at the face of a 60 year old sunbather to see that cellular damage ages us. The effect on our skin is easy to see. We cannot see the brain, liver or heart. But arteries get blocked- with cellular junk - and joints turn swollen with chronic inflammation- which is directly caused by free radicals.
Free radicals can be attacked by antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules that are capable of donating an electron to a free radical without becoming unstable themselves. They arrest the chain reaction and prevent the damage.
But, what’s the source of free radicals? Free radicals original from two key sources- one source is the outside environment- think of pollution and cigarette smoke and all the chemicals and toxins we regularly ingest. The other source of free radicals is us. There are four separate ways that our bodies create free radicals - oxidants.
Normal Metabolism- I’ll keep the long scientific words out of this chronicle because they’re just too hard to spell. But let’s just say that our body, uses oxygen as fuel and converts it to water. In the process, the oxygen molecule is not completely and cleanly utilized. There are by-products called oxy-radicals- our own version of nuclear waste- So that’s one - huge source of free radicals.
Oxidants are not all bad, we use them to fight chronic infections, bacteria and parasites. Unfortunately, in the process, other cells in our body are exposed and vulnerable to the free radicals. We fight fire with fire and sometimes manage to burn ourselves in the process. We also produce hydrogen peroxide- another free radical version of oxygen - when we metabolize some fatty acids.
These processes go on every day and are happening in millions of cells at the same time. It’s not surprising that antioxidant supplements are so popular and no small miracle that our body also produces some superb antioxidants like glutathione and CoEnzymeQ10 to help us deal with them.
In a final irony, an enzyme called cytochrome P450 is used by our bodies to sustain against toxins like drugs, other foreign chemicals and pesticides. In the process of creating this enzyme, our body will also produce free radicals. In a way, this makes the external toxins doubly damaging.
If you’re interested in helping your body combat the damaging effects of free radicals, you need to increase your supply of antioxidants. Some antioxidants, like Vitamins C and E can be supplemented and emphatically a good diet is very important. Other antioxidants like Glutathione cannot be supplied as an oral supplement although you can provide your body with the precursors -raw materials- to produce it yourself. One such product is MAXGXL, the Glutathione precursor from Max International.
Let’s Talk About Anti-Oxidant Supplements
Apr/100
If you’re interested in learning more about good health and looking after yourself, you need to learn about the role of antioxidants. Many health conscious people do and they shop for antioxidant supplements, too and they do it for one important reason. They want the benefits that antioxidants can render for their health. But the drawback is that those supplements might not do what they want.
So what’s all the fuss about antioxidants?
Antioxidants are the downfall of free radicals. To understand antioxidants, you need to know how free radicals- rogue electrons- can damage your health.
Your body is a amazing system. It’s a bunch of organs, like your liver and kidneys and your brain, that each does a important job. Each must perform their role for you to be truly healthy. Your organs are made of living tissue, composed of trillions of cells made up of molecules and their component atoms, each with their proper count of electrons. Molecules are formed when atoms, sharing electrons, bind together, but they can become damaged and drop an electron. This produces a free radical and the atom minus an electron will ” steal” it from the nearest molecule, which means there will be another unstable atom. So, you’ll have a chain reaction that if left alone, will damage the cells within the organ tissue and will sooner or later damage the organ.
Antioxidants are molecules that can remain stable, even when they lose an electron. An antioxidant molecule will not turm into a free radical itself because it will either stay stable with the missing electron or won’t be strong enough to steal an electron from another atom. The chain reaction is prevented. What’s vital to understand - to fullly comprehend the scale- is that, according to a well known researcher who studies antioxidants - whose name is Bruce Ames - a cell in your body will be attacked up to 10,000 times in just one day by free radicals. And there are trillions of cells in our bodies.
This attack by free radicals contributes to (and some will say primarily causes) many of the acute and chronic diseases that we associate with aging. Alzheimers disease, acute and chronic inflammation, coronary disease, cancer, type II diabetes, Parkinsons disease, rheumatoid arthritis and some types of dementia have all been traced back to free radical damage. And thats not the full list.
I believe that it’s truly important to reduce your own output of free radicals, increase your antioxidants and deciding to buyantioxidant supplements is one thing you can try. But it isn’t the whole picture. You should also:
1- Clean up your act. It’s difficult to fix the damage when you’re still causing it, so this would be a good time to cut back on your own creation of free radicals and there are lots of things you can do to help. You can avoid smoking and smokers, water and air pollution, junk food , substance abuse and even too much exercise.
2- Improve your diet. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. Which ones? This list is long but think green foods and think blue foods. Think raw and fresh.
3- Buy antioxidants and antioxidant supplements. Supplements like Vitamins C and E, Resveratrol and Cordyceps are excellent examples of antioxidants supplements that are available to buy. Choose carefully because sources, quality and usability will vary widely, but you can add them as part of your plan.
4- Glutathione is the body’s Master Antioxidant, but not effective as an oral supplement. Oral glutathione supplements unfortunately can’t make it through the digestive tract to be taken into the bloodstream. Instead you can opt for a Glutathione precursor like MAX GXL. You can also help to support your body’s production of Glutathione by eating more asparagus and broccoli.

Panic and Anxiety Attacks Relief: Natural Solutions
Apr/100
In this article you will learn natural remedies for panic and anxiety attacks — new ways to deal with the curve ball life throws at you the natural way.
We’ve all had those friends that get upset with the everyday occurrences that cause us stress. We all feel the need to help them. We go on a walk and discuss whatever it that is bothering them. Now, when we are the ones who suffer from stress we have a memory lapse and do not always practice what we preach. When it comes to the everyday activities that sometimes just comes at us like a rabid dog and we do not know how to stop it.
Anxiety has to be one of the worst feelings. It just seems to take the color off of everything leaving it dull and gray. You get that tunnel vision that allows you only to focus on the bad things in your life.
Acupressure anxiety relief point
Fortunately nature has provided us with energy points that we can use for our own well-being. Some of these points are good for things like making us calmer. To find the point make a fist with your left hand and look at the point where your middle finger touches the palm, now press that exact point with the thumb of your opposite hand and gently massage it for about a minute. Take some deep breaths as you hold the point and, when you feel ready swap hands and repeat.
Practice Being Still
For most people this is not easy to do. We always have to think we are in a hurry, doing the “I’m late I’m late I’m late thing. It is really hard to do when we get overly anxious or antsy. Slowing down a few moments and give your nervous system a break. While you practicing the stillness exercise practice relaxing your jaw and put a smile on your face, don’t worry about what other people think because you may look a little awkward. Start of with a minute and no you will not miss anything and remember a minute is not a lifetime. Set a timer if it helps. Slowly breathe in and out and just let your thoughts cruise on by. Try this just a few times a day and you will soon realize that it is well worth it.
Eventually when you conquer the minute maybe extend the time if you wish, just watch out for the boss or maybe you can just get him to join you. Taking time away from everything will lower your stress rate so you become more immune to the stress of everyday life and you will soon start feeling calmer and more in control of all areas of life.
Asbestos Lung Mesothelioma: An Overview
Apr/100
The main cause of asbestos lung mesothelioma as the name implies is the mineral fiber, called asbestos. Up until the 1970’s asbestos was used as an additive in various products such as insulation materials and floor sheeting. It was not until recently that it was discovered that it can cause serious diseases.
One such disease is asbestos lung mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is the protective covering of most of the bodies’ internal organs which includes the lungs and stomach. When the fibers enter the lungs it reaches the pleura where they can cause physical damage to the mesothelial cells. Over time this can cause cancer.
They main problem with asbestos is that it is very hard to detect; therefore it is hard to catch in the early stages. It can be a very slow process starting out. Sometimes it can take as long as thirty or forty years to show the first signs.
Asbestos lung mesothelioma is one of the leading bases in various legal claims made as a result of exposure to the fiber while at the workplace. Several laws and regulations have been passed to impose duties upon employers and factory owners to protect their employees and other individuals who may be affected from exposure to the deadly fiber.
Asbestos is considered to be a occupational hazard, just recently legislation has included residential areas that are close to factories that use asbestos in their materials as part of the duties of the factory owners to prevent any exposure.
Just because you work in an industrial area it does not guarantee that you will pick up this deadly disease, it will however increase your chances of coming down with it. It can be introduced to the body by inhaling from the work clothes of a asbestos worker.
Because the symptoms are so hard to detect it is a necessity to be very careful, especially if you work near or around asbestos or have a family member that has daily contact with asbestos.
Most people who are diagnosed with asbestos lung mesothelioma have had the symptoms for two or three months without even knowing it, no steps were taking to prevent it from going into a full blown disease.
It is always good to do a lot of research to fully understand the cause and effects of asbestos. If you have daily contact with asbestos contact your doctor and let him know so he can run the necessary tests to detect the deadly disease. Like any other disease it better to catch it in its early stages.

We Baby Boomers Need to Look After Our Health
Apr/100
We should all care about health, but as baby boomers we are especially concerned.Right now, it’s the boomers who are in the middle, caring for both children and elderly parents, and this can create an abundance of stress. Here are a few helpful ideas for baby boomers who would like to preserve their health, as well as some sources that will help you to find more helpful information.
Well, good health starts with a good diet and exercise. Adding those two things alone would help a lot of people I know. Even for younger children, these two factors are important- activity in early childhood will help control obesity all life long and eating the right foods from the start can reduce the risk of conditions like diabetes. So, as baby boomers are watching over the health of their family, weshould not forget ourselves.
Start with a diet that is high in fiber. It’s perfect for the average baby boomer. When you also include lean meats (emphasis on lean) the diet will provide the protein that is needed for energy and muscle toning. We should also consideredtaking a supplement that includes omega-3 fatty acids; this will improve memory and brain function, and make it easier for the body to fight off free radicals. Men of this generation should be sure to eat foods that are rich in lycopene, a substance that can reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Lycopene can be found in foods like tomatoes and watermelon, so eating these fruits fresh a few times a week can make a big difference when it comes to preventative health.
Supporting our bodies efforts to fight the damage caused by free radicals is vital as we age. Since our bodies are simply producing anti-oxidants like CoEnzymeQ10 (which is important for a lot more critical health issues than wrinkles) and glutathione- the bodies master antioxidant, its important to watch our diets for foods that are rich in anti-oxidants and also take some qualily supplements like MAX GXL a glutathione precursor, or products like Resveratrol and CoEnzyme Q10 from RGarden. and stop skipping breakfast! This the meal that will get the metabolism going for the day, so eating things like whole grains, eggs (for protein) and fresh fruit are ideal.
An exercise plan that includes some type of cardiovascular activity three times a week is also an essential part of baby boomers health as is some form of strength training which has been proven to boost the metabolism and -especially important for women- help maintain the density of our bones to stave of osteoporosis. Even if joining a local gym is not a feasible option, walking in the neighborhood in the morning or evenings is a great way to manage weight and to prevent certain conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure.
Finally, don’t ignore your check ups. Visit your healthcare professional on a regular basis just to be sure that nothing is going off the rails and do not ignore the sudden onset of a change in your health. If you find that you’ve suddenly dropped twenty pounds for no apparent reason, its a sign that you need to be checked out. Get your eyes checked regularly and use good common sense in deciding what conditions to ignore and what to take action on.
